Mission
- to create and deliver new types of cross-media universes, covering holes in the international entertainment market for children and families. We live in downtown Copenhagen, Denmark, where we are currently working hard on (and having a ball with) producing our property “Crimeville” in partnership with DR and others.
Partners
Ida Brinck-Lund
Founder and MD, Art of Crime.
Ida is a journalist and has used her natural inquisitive curiousness in working with childrens content since 1996 at DR TV, TV2, Chili Media etc. She founded Art of Crime in 2002 and has produced a range of interactive TV-animations and mobile content. Ida is usually heard before seen, her laughter has the strenght of a medium sized tornado, and her persistent “never say die” attitude has already earned her a reputation as an entrepreneur to be reckoned with.
Theis Dinesen
Chief Creative Officer.
Theis has been creating online games and experiences for children and adults for the past 10 years. Theis’ methodology underlines his belief that a creative and well orchestrated process leads to great results. No one EVER sees him take a break, and there’s been some speculation as to whether he’s a man, a machine or an alien with a passion for arthouse movies.
Søren Tramm
Chief Technical Officer.
Søren created his first online-success for 11 EBU broadcasters in 2003. Gaming universe “Sportzarena” allowed children to communicate across borders and language barriers using a unique symbol-exchange system. The universe grew to having more than a million users. Søren is an ex-musician, but he’s left his jazz and punk life- (and hair-) style behind and now uses a keyboard for composing cool codes for the future.
Malcolm John Clapson
Chief Operating Officer.
Mal is the guy who’s always been keen to invent and develop stuff people actually want and need and then attach money making logic! He was a programmer and moved into business development at the end of the 90’s restructuring treasury support centers, helping international businesses develop cross portfolio experiences for consumers and then moving to business driving and strategy for the LEGO Group. The guy loves horses, dancing, art and socialising with weird and wacky people.
Ulla Brinck-Lund
Executive Assistant
Our secret assistant who sit’s in cyberspace and fixes for us all. She used to have her own advertising agency for over 30 years with clients such as Fiat, Coloplast, Computer Associates, but that was before. Now she’s retired… well sort of. Be nice to her and the world is your oyster…
Jeppe Thorø Andersen
Strategic Brand Coordinator
Jeppe is a graduate student at Copenhagen Business School, majoring in Strategic Brand Management. Moreover, he has been working for a digital communication bureau specialising in social media.
“You are given a lot of responsibility, which is very nice because you can develop your skills. Besides, the atmosphere in the organisation is free spirit”
Mike Sjørslev Khamphoukeo
Game Manager.
Mike is a Graduate from the IT-University in Copenhagen, majoring in Media Technology and games. He is hired as game manager for the online MMO, but is more like a Jack-of-all-trades and does a lot of other stuff for the company, example game design. Love to play all kinds of games, both analogue and digital, but is a sore loser. Like the japanese culture (anime, manga and cosplay).
“Art of Crime is a cool place where one can be as creative as you want to be.”
Finn Skovgaard
Art Director
Finn Skovgaard is educated at The Danich Design School and has worked for several film production companies and agency’s througout Denmark and Scandinavia – doing storyboards, illustrations and graphic designs. He has worked for strategic brands like Kelloggs, Ecco, and Northern Bank.
“Working on a wide range of platforms at the same time is a big challenge and a great opportunity.”
Luca Fatore
Lead Character Designer
Luca Fatore is an incredibly talented character designer and animator. He has been working for the last twenty years in the animation field creating artwork for top companies like Universal, MGM, Warner Brothers, AFilm, and of course Art of Crime!
Jesper Ezme Sørensen
Flash Animator & integrator
Ezme graduated as an animator from The Animation Workshop in Viborg in 1994. His main competence is traditional 2D animation, cut-out animation and flash animation. With 18 years in the business, he’s worked with great people at A.Film, TV-Animation, Titoonic and LEGO doing films, tv-shows, games, illustrations, websites and software UI.
“The inventive atmosphere and crazy colleagues makes AoC the coolest place
to work right now.”
Line Rom Lange
Animator & Graphic Designer
Line has been in the animation-business since 2002, graduated as a 2D classical animator at The Animation Workshop in Viborg. Line animates in both Flash and Maya (latest: 3D feature “The Olsen-gang” at A.Film). On the side Line makes illustrations for Gyldendal but spend most of her time at the AoC studio – always in front of the screen sipping on a cup of warm (or cold) black coffee.
“Working at AoC is just like in Crimeville – it’s ok to be a little wacky!”
Lars Gregers Nielsen
Graphic Designer
Lars was recently found on the doorstep under mysterious circumstances. In a very large basket. Apparently he has a background in illustration and multimedia design, or so the attached note said.
“I love the casualness and enthusiasm that is Art of Crime. And of course, the cake.”
Nicolai Farver
Game & Software Developer
Nicolai has worked with games since 1996. Mainly as a programmer but also in game design, concept developing, script writing, directing and much more. Apart from games he is a still photographer and film director and makes animations, film and still photography both professionally and as a hobby. He also trains Wushu (Kung Fu).
Marc Larue
Game & Software developer
As Swedish/French wannabe organic farmer comes, Marc is proficient beyond belief in all maters related to back-end development and innovation. His Java language capabiliteies is at least on par with Cornelis Vreeswijk Dutch lyrics skills. This could of course be down to consistant luck, but it could also relate to his more than ten years as programmer, producer and system architect. Who knows…
Dean Wilkinson
Scriptwriter
Dean has written comedy for many British TV shows including The Big Breakfast, Zig & Zag, Byker Grove, Comic Relief, Harry Hill’s Shark Infested Custard, Planet Sketch, to name a few. For many years he was Ant and Dec’s writer scripting the multi award winning SMTV Live and Chums. He is also creator of CBBC’s Stupid. He writes games too, most notably LittleBigPlanet for Stephen Fry. He lives in the north of England with his wife and daughters.
And many thanks to:
Lisbeth Mathiesen
Jolly Good Company.
Art of Crime’s Producer for TV and Print. Lisbeth has a past (the official one) as Acquisitions Executive at TV 2/Denmark and now runs Jolly Good Company, which specialises in developing strong international media concepts for children. For Lisbeth, content is king and target is queen. She’s often seen making strange gestures while talking VERY loudly on the phone and her mantra is: “If you can’t make ‘em laugh, don’t quit your day-time job”!
Gitte Zimmermann
Art of Crime’s Story Editor. Gitte’s past credits in Egmont Imagination include the development of a pre-school show that went on to be Emmy-nominated. Gitte has a way with words and a unique sense of rhythm and beat that transfers a script from fine to fantastic. She’s frequently seen tapping her table and humming while reading vast amount of outlines and scripts. For Gitte target practice means nailing the audience (not literally though!).
Palle Schmidt
Art of Crime’s illustrator and character designer. Palle is a cartoonist, writer and author of the role playing game “Fusion”. Palle has illustrated children’s books and crime novels and worked with storyboarding. He has recently published his own graphic novel “Devils Concubine” (so NOT for children). Palle has a humour that goes well with very dry martinis and rumour has it that underneat his youthful appearance, he’s 130 years old!
Charite Bertelsen
kidsXray
Focus group testing for Art of Crime. kidsXray specializes in delivering well-researched trend- and attitude-analysis on children’s lives, attitudes and habits. Charite points out that visiting museums can cause pain in a child’s chin, because many museums are sooo boooring; that tweens act less according to gender stereotypes than adult “experts” tend to believe and that humour is a universal communicator among tweens.
Bine Lehman
Bine & Co
Art of Crime’s helper in development. Bine is an experienced designer with the on- and off-line world. Whether doing compositing, colouring or cleanup, Bine’s keen eye is on every detail.
She’s been spotted hip-hopping (with an occasional shake) in the office, while also on messenger, Skype, mobile-txt and Illustrator. A meticulous multitasker!
Paul Parkes
Paul wrote for several TV shows before creating and writing the BAFTA nominated ‘King Arthur’s Disasters’, which has now sold to over 90 international territories. His childhood ambition of being a world class violinist fell apart when he realized it meant learning the violin. He now plans to be Emperor of the World by the time he’s 38; a tough task when you consider he’s already 39. During his spare time, he enjoys skiing and playing guitar and piano (although not at the same time; he finds getting the piano on the ski lift a real headache).
Peter Holm
Crimevilles lead flash design development integrater is really doing us a favour working for us, since he’s former founder of game company Titoonic and way overqualified to help us. But since we live together (our companies) we just had to join forces (thank you Peter). As a user interface and usability expert, animator and director of his own game company Space Time Foam – he can’t help lifting a finger and ask questions in absolutely everything – and yes… we do appreciate it.
Irene Sparre Hjorthøj
Cross-media producer.
Art of Crime’s Cross Media Producer. Irene is an oldschool producer with a new-school attitude! She has over 15 years of extensive international animation experience and has produced
THOMAS KRAJEWSKI
Crimeville’s shortest writer, Tom Krajewski, is Crimeville’s tallest writer. He’s also the laziest, hence his mother is writing this bio for him. My pleasant-smelling son Tom has written for Nickelodeon, Disney, Cartoon Network and Warner Brothers, but he’s proudest of his work on Crimeville. He also wrote the feature film “Bad Vintage”, shooting in 2010. He lives in Los Angeles and does laundry once a week.
