The workshop also included “time to have fun” where everybody could have a nice time with each other besides of work. The day started with Go-Card racing at www.power-racing.dk. We were divided into teams of three persons and raced each other in a one hour long race. The tactics of pitstops was also an interesting part of the race.

After the racing it was time to split people into small groups where they could work on 3 short term tasks. It was a very productive day where everybody participated and gave valuable input. The sessions aligned people to focus on the vision.

The day ended with an exclusive dinner at Denmark’s Aquarium. We got a tour from one of the guides and we watched the fish getting feed. During the tour we were served bobbles and delicious canapés and snacks.  Here some pictures:

We have had the pleasure to entertain lots of kids during the week, who where excited to learn about Crimeville. They played our MMO and our unique role playing trading cards. Our amazing crew was dressed out spectacular! The outfit actually had a deeper meaning, because Crimeville is all about that people are more complex than you might think. You shouldn’t only judge a person on his/hers appearing. Each Crimeville character is a typical stereotype, but the tweens learn that there are a lot more to the characters, and they have secrets that doesn’t necessary fit to their stereotype.

The second biggest challenge is to explain the strength of cross media production and how this spreads even more risk and lowers costs and increases ARPU.

The third biggest challenge is to explain how a global mega success depends on the factors above, about three handfuls of production details and execution quality and then the secret ingredient that will induce a lifelong loyalty from both parents and children.

Okay we’ll spill the beans about the secret ingredient. We’re talking about aspirational values. When fooling around with your identity in Crimeville you also meet 37 stereotypes who all seem to very typical, but then they surprise you along the way when on the hunt for a culprit. This doesn’t show until you are deeper in the universe, but when you slowly realize that Terra Rash  isn’t homeless but a rocket scientist, that Chuck Matthews the reporter has false teeth and that Vampire Carla is afraid of the dark, you realize everyone has secrets and everyone steps over the line – for a reason. And just perhaps – people do things for a reason, but not intentionally to hurt you. As we say: “Nobody is perfect. But who want’s to be Nobody”. The fourth biggest challenge is to make people read this far because we’ve way overstepped Facebook or twitter max.

We participated last year as well, and we look forward to meet all the kids again from 15 September – 25 September. The focus this year will be on our trading cards where they will learn how to do the role playing game, and furthermore how to integrate it with YouTube to make an online interactive role playing game. More news will follow from the event!

Ida is a journalist and has used her natural inquisitive curiousness in working with childrens content since 1996 at DR TV, TV2, Chili Media etc. She founded Art of Crime in 2002 and has produced a range of interactive TV-animations and mobile content.
